Motion Weekly 32

The Motion Weekly is a showcase of awe-inspiring short films, animation and motion graphic works from around the web. Some pieces featured have been created by professional studios, while others may be personal works. May this weekly segment serve to inspire you.

Though my original goal with this segment was to specifically highlight motion graphics and animated short films, it had evolved to also showcase incredible live-action, outstanding cinematography, and wicked cool experimental works. It's all motion, it's all inspiring. So, take the time to kick back and have a look at some fantastic work being produced out there. And, if you like what you see in this segment, please share it.

The Dollmaker

This award-winning horror short film, most certainly inspired by Stephen King's 'Pet Semetary', is truly creepy and has a great twist. It's been around a bit, and has racked up almost 20 million views online. I present it here in case you haven't seen this wonderful film yet.

As I've been perusing horror shorts recently, this one came up that I hadn't seen. Hosted recently by 'Alter' on YouTube, it popped into my feed. Great animation, sound effects and story. Perhaps the creepiest part, though, is the excellent narration of Richard E. Grant.

Excellent animation and design in this clever short film. I just so love the environment in this piece. Be sure to check out more info on this film, here.

Bendito Machine I - Everything you need

I have loved the 'Bendito Machine' short film series from Jossie Malis for years, and don't know why I hadn't thought to highlight them previously. Clever and fun animation in silhouette, each film (now six in all) are a joy to watch. So, here is the first of the films. Be sure to check out this 'making of' here, and look for the others in this series. I hope to grab an interview with the creator, Jossie Malis at some point.
